This summer we had the absolute pleasure of having Aleya Quilty join us from the Department of Chemistry at the University of Prince Edward Island for a summer research position at Memorial University. Aleya became an expert in quality control of ion chromatographic data, the art of standard addition, and the messy undertaking of soil nutrient extractions. She also joined us at the second NL-BELT workshop in Corner Brook, NL where she presented a poster to our collaborators in government and international research universities. During this time across the island, Aleya helped collect and process field samples for atmospheric and precipitation compositional analysis. Outside of the lab, Aleya also participated in the Royal St. John's Regatta on Quidi Vidi Lake, played baseball, and explored St. John's and the Avalon Peninsula. We were so glad to have you and were sad to see you leave! All the best as you complete your BSc and we hope to see you in Newfoundland again sometime soon!
