The VDBChem Group has grown this fall, with the arrival of Leigh (PDF) and Danial (MSc) from abroad, and Melodie continuing with the group (MSc) for our research on indoor reactive nitrogen instrumentation . We also have Lindy (MSc) and Alessia (PhD) joining us for a new project investigating the atmospheric deposition of perfluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS) into at-risk whale habitat (http://www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/species-especes/publications/mammals-mammiferes/whalereview-revuebaleine/summary-resume/beluga-eng.html, http://www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/species-especes/publications/mammals-mammiferes/whalereview-revuebaleine/summary-resume/killerwhale-epaulard-eng.html).
Welcome to Alessia and Lindy!
Welcome to Leigh and Danial!
Dr. Leigh Crilley and Danial Farahani have joined the VandenBoer group this fall as postdoctoral fellow and MSc student to work on the reactive nitrogen in the indoor environment project. Welcome to you both!!
Congrats on your thesis completion Melodie!
Megan Finishes Co-Op and Returns to UBC. Thank you Megan!
Megan Stewart completed a successful co-op term in the VDBChemGroup this summer. She contributed to the group across a number of research projects on the indoor chemistry of reactive nitrogen. Megan is now returning to her program at UBC for the upcoming academic year. Thank you for your valuable assistance this summer Megan!
Trevor at the Atmospheric Chemistry Gordon Research Conference
This summer Trevor attended to the Gordon Research on Atmospheric Chemistry in July to share recent work from the VDBChemGroup and learn from leaders in the field.
Welcome Megan!
Megan is an undergraduate co-op student working with the VandenBoer group for the summer. She is pursuing her BSc in Environmental Sciences at the University of British Columbia. Through the summer she will be learning about the analytical challenges and techniques used to quantify reactive nitrogen in the indoor environment. Welcome Megan!
Leyla receives Harold I. Schiff graduate award! #indoorchem #realtimechem #cdnchem @YorkUScience
Leyla Salehpoor has been awarded the Harold I. Schiff graduate award. This award is given to outstanding graduates of York University entering a York graduate program specializing in atmospheric chemistry. Leyla is applying several Environmental/Analytical Chemistry techniques to improve our capabilities to measure amines, so we can better understand their chemistry in indoor atmospheres. Congratulations Leyla!
Congratulations Melodie!
Melodie Lao has been awarded an NSERC Undergraduate Student Research Award to pursue research in the Atmospheric Chemistry Laboratory this semester. She will be learning a variety of Environmental/Analytical Chemistry techniques for both online and offline analysis of atmospheric samples. Congratulations Melodie!
New positions available for graduate students and postdoctoral fellow! Work in collaboration with @caputolabyork and @IAWinGWN on #IndoorChem #CDNChem #ChemJobs @Chemjobber @YorkUScience @YUResearch
The VDB Chem Group is looking for skilled and motivated graduate students and postdoctoral fellow to pursue research questions on the emission and fate of indoor atmospheric reactive nitrogen! Positions begin in September 2019 and applications will be considered as they are received. Please see the links to each position for more details.
